Kissimmee gets billed as a family town, and it is. But a lot of the best things to do here are just as fun, or more fun, without kids in tow. Whether you are on a couples trip, a girls' weekend or a day off from the parks, here are our favorite grown-up picks.

The short answer

For adults in Kissimmee, try a sunset or night airboat tour (the night tour guarantees alligators), bottle-feed a baby Highland calf at Mini Moo Land, catch the free Saturday night classic car cruise at Old Town, watch the sunset at Kissimmee Lakefront Park, or book a dinner show.

1. Take A Sunset Airboat Tour

The sunset tour at Boggy Creek Airboat Adventures heads out across the lake toward the sunset, when the sky goes orange and the birds head home to roost. It is one of the most photogenic hours you can spend in Central Florida, and an easy date night. Seats are very limited, so reserve ahead and arrive an hour before departure. Bring a jacket on cool evenings.

2. Go Gator Hunting After Dark

Want something a little wilder? The night tour glides through tall grass trails in the dark, looking for glowing alligator eyes. It is the one tour at Boggy Creek where alligators are guaranteed, because night is when they come out to feed. Reserve in advance and arrive an hour early. Night tours do not run when it is colder than 55°F.

3. Bottle-Feed A Baby Highland Cow

Do not let anyone tell you this is just for kids. At the VIP bottle feeding experience at Mini Moo Land, you get time with our fluffy mini Highland calves, born this fall, and a bottle to feed one yourself. It runs at 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM, costs $65 per guest including admission, and spots are limited, so reserve a feeding ahead.

Prefer to keep it simple? General admission is $29.99 and lets you pet, hand-feed and cuddle the herd, with plenty of time for photos. Our Highland cow photo tips will help you get the shot.

4. Make A Full Day Of It At Boggy Creek

Pair an airboat ride with the cows and lunch at Boggy Bottom BBQ for an easy, low-stress day away from the theme park crowds. The 1-hour airboat and Mini Moo Land combo saves $10, and the park is about 35 minutes from Disney.

5. Catch The Saturday Night Car Cruise At Old Town

Old Town Kissimmee, the open-air entertainment district on US 192, hosts a classic car show and cruise every Saturday night. Cars are on display through the day, then cruise the brick Main Street in the evening. It is billed as America's longest-running weekly car show and cruise, and it is free to watch. Add dinner and a few rides or games for a fun, retro night out.

6. Watch The Sunset At Kissimmee Lakefront Park

Downtown Kissimmee's lakefront park sits on the north shore of Lake Tohopekaliga. It is free, with a long waterfront path for walking or biking, a fishing pier and plenty of benches facing west. Grab dinner downtown first, then walk the lake as the sun goes down. Keep an eye out for sandhill cranes, and remember, this is gator country, so stay back from the water's edge.

7. See A Dinner Show

Kissimmee is home to several dinner shows, including the long-running Medieval Times, where you cheer on jousting knights over a hands-on feast. It is campy in the best way and a fun group night out.

8. Stroll Disney Springs Without A Park Ticket

Disney Springs is free to enter, and parking in its garages is free. Grown-ups come for the restaurants, bars, shopping and live music along the waterfront, no park ticket needed.
